The Düsseldorf Panther (3-6) had no answer for the Potsdam Royals (8-1) Saturday as the defending German champions rolled to a 49-0 road victory at Benrath Stadium in German Football League action.
The Royals controlled the game from the opening possession, striking quickly on offense and creating turnovers on defense. Düsseldorf never found a way back into the contest as Potsdam steadily stretched the margin.
Potsdam strikes immediately
New Potsdam quarterback Bay Harvey wasted little time making an impact in his first appearance for the Royals. Harvey broke loose for a run of more than 60 yards for the opening touchdown, although the two-point conversion failed.
The Royals defense quickly gave the offense another opportunity when Ronaldo Tomasello intercepted a pass. Chrisman-Kyei turned the takeaway into points, and Potsdam continued to pour it on when Heiko Bals scored on an eight-yard run.
By the end of the first quarter, Düsseldorf was staring at a 22-0 deficit.
Chrisman-Kyei reached the end zone again in the second quarter as the Royals took a commanding 28-0 advantage into halftime.

Bals breaks it open
Any hopes of a Panther comeback disappeared quickly after the break.
Bals ripped off a 57-yard touchdown run and later scored again from short range as Potsdam continued to control the game on the ground. Meanwhile, the Royals defense kept Düsseldorf off the scoreboard and prevented the home team from generating the big play it needed to change the momentum.
A 49-yard punt return helped set up another Potsdam score before the Royals defense added a safety.
Royals finish the job
Harvey put the finishing touch on the afternoon when he connected with Chrisman-Kyei on an 18-yard touchdown pass, completing a 49-0 shutout.
The victory moved Potsdam to 8-1 and kept the Royals firmly among the leaders in the GFL North.
For Düsseldorf, the loss dropped the Panther to 3-6, but they remain in the thick of the playoff race. With Braunschweig, Berlin and Kiel still within striking distance, the battle for the remaining postseason positions remains wide open.
