Rushing lead changes hands as German Football League resumes action

With the German Football League regular season resuming after a four week break, AFI takes a look at the passing, receiving, rushing and tackling leaders in Germany for the fifth time this season.

The Dresden Monarchs still have players leading two categories with WR Mitchel Paige remaining as the top receiver and LB AJ Wentland the leading tackler.

The Allgäu Comets still lead all teams with 4 players among the top 5 in 4 categories. Following them with 3 are the Potsdam Royals and the Dresden Monarchs. The Munich Cowboys have two players while the Kiel Baltic HurricanesCologne Crocodiles, Ingolstadt Dukes, Hamburg Huskies, Marburg Mercenaries, Stuttgart Scorpions, Berlin Rebels and Frankfurt Universe all have one.

The notable absences are the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions and the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns. who do not have a player on any of these lists. Also with no players on any list are the Hildesheim Invaders and Kirchdorf Wildcats.

Passing

Allgäu Comets QB Justin Sottilare remains the passing leader with 3,689 yards and a league-best 38 TDs. Sottilare has set a record for passing attempts in a game (84), and still leads the GFL in average yards per game with 368.9 Trenton Norvell of the Dresden Monarchs holds on to 2nd although the Monarchs were idle. He has 2,861 yards and 35 TDs.  Munich Cowboys QB Trenton Miller has moved up into 3rd with 2,471 yards while Ingolstadt Dukes QB Nelson Hughes III is now 4th with 2,312 yards and 25 TDs.  Austin Gahafer of the Potsdam Royals is now 5th with 2,244 yards and 30 TDs.

Receiving

Mitchell Paige of the Dresden Monarchs continues to lead all receivers in Germany and has caught 80 passes for 1,286 yards and a league-leading 18 TDs. Allgäu Comets WR Jordan Paul is still 2nd with 1,103 yards while  Kai Silbermann of the Munich Cowboys has entered the list at #3 with 901 yards. Frankfurt Universe WR Tim Thomas has climbed onto the list at 4th with 816 yards while Martin Emos of the Comets is 5th with 815 yards.

Rushing

For the second time all season, there is a new rushing leader in the German Football League as Tyvis Smith of the Potsdam Royals has taken the lead with 895 yards rushing.  Cologne Crocodiles RB Shayeen Edwards is still 2nd and now has 881 yards and 8 TDs.  Hamburg Huskies RB Colby Goodwyn has dropped down to 3rd as the Huskies were idle. He has 858 yards. Berlin Rebel’s Dutch RB Sean Richard is 4th with 660 yards and 8 TDs while Giacomo De Pauli  of the Stuttgart Scorpions has stayed in 5th with 655  yards.

Tackling

AJ Wentland of the Dresden Monarchs continues to lead the league in tackles by a wide margin and  now has 136 tackles in 10 games. He has had 3 games of 20+ tackles. Demetrius Steed of the Potsdam Royals has held onto 2nd and has 96 tackles while Neil Howey of the Marburg Mercenaries is 3rd with 93 tackles. Allgäu Comets LB Niall Padden continues to hold onto 4th with 89 while Kiel Baltic Hurricanes LB Thiadric Hansen is 5th with 85 tackles.
