São Paulo Football League Semi-Final Round Promise Huge Crowds

Brazil has proven to be a hot market for American football. This weekend’s games in São Paulo will continue the trend.

This can be evidenced by the enormous crowds in attendance at the regional state finals. Over 12,000 spectators attended the Gigante Bowl, Rio Grande do Sul’s state final,  played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup stadium Beira Rio. Eight thousand fans watched Brazil’s Minas Gerais state final held in the World  Cup stadium of Mineirao.

This coming weekend the action continues in the statewide tournaments throughout Brazil. The newly formed São Paulo Football League (SPFL) enters its semifinals stage with four traditional powerhouses of American football in Sao Paulo. On Sunday, the Santos Tsunami will face a strong Sao Paulo Storm team in the Caninde stadium in a semifinal match-up of the São Paulo Football League.

In the other semifinal, the twice national champions Corinthians Steamrollers will face a well-coached Lusa Lions club. Over 10,000 spectators at expected at the Sao Paulo Football League semifinal games.

There will be events throughout the day and the presence of Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL’s ambassador to Brazil, Cairo Santos, who plays for the ChiefsSantos will also be holding a football camp on Caninde Stadium on June 25th.
