SBB Vukovi Belgrade hand Belgrade Blue Dragons 1st loss in Serbia

In Serbia’s battle of Belgrade – the Belgrade Bowl – SBB Vukovi Belgrade took home the spoils defeating the  previously unbeaten Belgrade Blue Dragons 33-9 and taking over first place in Serbia’s top league.

The Blue Dragons entered the game on a high following their upset of the defending champion Kragujevac Wild Boars two weeks ago.

Vukovi quarterback Lewis Kindle threw three touchdown passes and ran another touchdown in himself. Wide receivers Marka Marića, Marija Lugonju and Vojina Milića each caught a touchdown pass and running back Duane Brady added a score.

After falling behind 3-0 on a field goal by Blue Dragons kicker Uroš Jović, Vukovi’s offense kicked into gear in the second quarter as Kindle first connected with Marića on a 50 yard touchdown pass and then threw a 34 yard strike to Lugonju.

Leading 13-3 coming out of the halftime break, Vukovi added to it as Brady found the end zone from eight yards out to widen the gap to 20-3. Kindle then hit Milića on a three yard touchdowns pass to give Vukovi a 27-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter continued much as the third, but this time Kindle used his feet and took off on a 40 run to add to Vukovi’s lead, 33-3.

The Blue Dragons finally found the end zone late in the contest as young quarterback Mladen Zlatić threw a 41 yard touchdown pass to Milana Nikolića to round out the scoring. With the win, Vukovi (5-1) moves into the top spot ahead of the Wild Boars (5-1) and Blue Dragons (5-1) by virtue of the points differential between the three teams.
