There has been an enormous surge in interest in American football in China over the past four years and the city of Shanghai has been the epicenter of this explosion.
The city is home to three American football teams playing in the American Football League of China, the Shanghai Titans, Shanghai Warriors and Shanghai Nighthawks. The Titans captured the AFLC championship this year for the first time in their history downing the Nighthawks.
In commemoration, photographer An Lee put together a short documentary, interviewing players and coaches from the Shanghai Titans, letting them describe the sense of “Team” they feel. To them, American football has brought a special sense of camaraderie that is hard to replicate in other sports.
