Snoop Dogg to headline BC Lions Concert Kickoff at BC Place
Award-winning rapper Snoop Dogg will perform at Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place ahead of the BC Lions’ season opener against the Edmonton Elks on Saturday, June 7, the team announced. The concert, presented by BC Federation of Labour, begins at 5:45 p.m. PT, with over 50,000 tickets already sold for the event.
Snoop’s storied career meets sports spectacle
Snoop Dogg, a seven-time platinum recording artist and cultural icon, has deep ties to sports. He performed alongside Dr. Dre at the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony and during the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show, which earned a Primetime Emmy Award. His 2025 BC Lions appearance follows 50 Cent’s record-setting 2024 Concert Kickoff, which drew 53,788 fans. “Snoop Dogg is a global icon,” said BC Lions president Duane Vienneau, emphasizing the event’s draw beyond football.
Lions aim for bounce-back season
The game marks the debut of head coach Buck Pierce, tasked with revitalizing a team that finished 9-9 in 2024. Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke, who struggled after joining mid-season post-NFL, will benefit from a full offseason. “All eyes will be on Rourke,” said owner Amar Doman, who called the Concert Kickoff “the premier event on our city’s summer sports calendar.”
Legacy of star power
Snoop Dogg’s accolades—including BET Awards, an MTV Movie Award, and 20 Grammy nominations—add prestige to the Lions’ 71st season opener. With sales nearing a sellout, the event underscores Vancouver’s appetite for blending sports and entertainment, a tradition solidified by last year’s record turnout.
