Stats leaders in Italy unchanged as league approaches midseason

After four weeks of play in Italy’s Division I, the Lazio Ducks still lead two of four statistical categories despite a disappointing loss to the Firenzi Guelfi.

Ducks QB Hans Fortune tops all passers while Lazio RB Mike Gentili is still the leading rusher.

The Firenzi Guelfi lead Italy’s Division I with four straight wins behind the legs and arm of QB Tony Dawson who is now 2nd in passing and 2nd in rushing with his leading receiver Mike Vanucci 3rd overall in receiving. The Parma Panthers offense is scoring at a torrid pace, averaging 44.3 points a game and quaterback Tommaso Monardi is 3rd in passing.

Passing

Lazio Ducks QB Hans Fortune still tops Division I in Italy by a wide margin with 948 yards passing and 7 TDs in four games. Tony Dawson from the Guelfi has jumped from 5th to 2nd after throwing for 259 yards in their win over the Ducks. Parma Panthers steady QB Tommaso Monardi is 3rd with 587 yards and a league-best 10 TDs while Jon Brown of the Bolzano Giants has dropped to 4th with 527 yards and 7 TDs . Ancona Dolphins QB Josh Dean has climbed into 5th place with 510 yards and 8 TDs.

Rushing

Lazio Ducks RB Mike Gentili continues to top all rushers in Italy gaining 345 yards while scoring 7 TDs on the ground. Firenzi Guelfi QB Tony Dawson is not only among the top passers but is also now the 2nd leading rusher with 331 yards in four games Next up is Torino’s Fabiano Hale who has rushed for 279 yards and 3 TDs. Bergamo Lions young QB Andrea Fimiani is 4th with 256 yards while Parma Panthers Alessandro Malpeli Avali is 5th with 248 yards and 3 TDs.

Receiving

Parma Panthers WR Kris Durham has been the favorite target of his QB, Tommaso Monardi hauling in 327 yards in receptions and a league leading 6 TD catches.  Lazio Ducks WR Paolo Biancalana has leapt unp into 2nd with 316 yards while Firenzi’s Mike Vanucci has moved up from 5th to 3rd following  a 165 yards game against the Ducks and now has 295 yards receiving. Stefano Di Tunisi, from the Milano Seamen has entered the Top 5 and has 215 yards in receptions after two games while Pietro Elmi from the Milano Rhinos had 129 yards against the Seamen and now has 203 yards placing him 5th.

Tackles

The Firenzi Guelfi defense has played a huge part in their unbeaten record so far this year with LB Nicholas Holshee leading the way with 37 tackles to top the league. Teammate Martin Marcacci is 2nd with 24.5 tackles while Milano Rhinos Matt Conroy is 3rd with 23.5. Paolo Ricchiuti from the Bolzano Giants is 4th while Torino Giaguari LB Marco Zaffino has 19 tackles, good for 5th.
