Stuttgart Surge, Nordic Storm coaches join Tampa Bay Buccaneers via NFL Fellowship

Stuttgart Surge defensive assistant Nadine Nurasyid and Nordic Storm quarterbacks coach Henry Schlegel will join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2025 season through the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, marking a milestone for European coaching talent.

Trailblazing path for Nurasyid
Nurasyid made history as head coach of the Munich Cowboys men’s team in the German Football League (GFL), guiding them to an 8-1-1 record and a second-place finish in the GFL South during the 2022 season. Her leadership earned her GFL Coach of the Year honors that year. After a second season with the Cowboys, she transitioned to the Stuttgart Surge as a defensive assistant. Her playing career began with the Munich Cowboys Ladies in 2013, followed by representing the German National Team. The fellowship provides her access to Buccaneers training camps and preseason games.

Schlegel’s rapid rise to prominence
At 25, Schlegel became the ELF’s youngest offensive coordinator with the Berlin Thunder in 2023. Now with the unbeaten Nordic Storm, he has played a key role in their historic debut season. His coaching journey began in 2019 with the Hildesheim Young Invaders, followed by U.S. college roles at Bethune Cookman University and Alabama State University. The fellowship offers him exposure to NFL offensive strategies under Buccaneers staff.

Fellowship bridges global coaching gaps
The Bill Walsh program provides minority coaches hands-on NFL experience to advance their careers. Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles emphasized its value: “This is a valuable opportunity for these coaches to grow in their careers. I look forward to working with them as we prepare for the season.”

European football gains recognition
Nurasyid and Schlegel’s selection underscores the ELF’s growing influence. Their participation highlights Europe’s expanding developmental pipelines, aligning with the NFL’s international outreach efforts. Both coaches will return to their ELF roles after the Buccaneers’ preseason, applying newfound insights to Europe’s competitive landscape.
