Super Bowl winning coach Terry Malone joins Madrid Bravos as OC

Terry Malone, who won Super Bowl XLIV in 2010 as a coach with the New Orleans Saints, and who had an impressive college coaching career which includes a college football championship, has joined the Madrid Bravos as offensive line coach for the 2026 European Football Alliance season under head coach Dave Warner.

Malone spent the 2025 ELF season with the Raiders Tirol serving as assistant head coach, running backs and tight ends coach.

Prior to arriving in Austria, Malone had served as offensive analyst for the LSU Tigers (NCAA Div. 1 FBS) under Brian Kelly.

Malone spent nine seasons on Sean Payton’s New Orleans Saints staff (2006-2014), helping the Saints capture the Super Bowl in 2009. He mentored Jimmy Graham, helping elevate him into an All-Pro tight end. In 2001, Graham became the first Saints tight end to have more than 1,000 yards receiving and in 2013, he led the league in touchdown catches and the Saints in receiving yards (1,215).

Before joining LSU, Malone served as offensive coordinator at Bowling Green. He coached at Western Michigan as the team’s running backs coach in 2018 and as the Broncos’ Director of Player Development in 2017. Before joining Western Michigan, he was the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Purdue.

Prior to his time with the Saints, Malone was the offensive line coach (1997-05) and offensive coordinator (2001-05) at the University of Michigan. He was a member of Michigan’s 1997 National Championship team and a part of five Big Ten championships. His teams played in eight New Year’s Day bowl games, while he helped produce 14 All-Big Ten selections and four All-Americans. Michigan had back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Year winners on offense (Chris Perry in 2003 and Braylon Edwards in 2004), while two of his linemen were recognized as Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year (Jon Jansen in 1997 and Steve Hutchinson in 2000).

A graduate of Holy Cross, where he played tight end, Malone coached at Arizona (1983–1984), Holy Cross (1985), Bowling Green(1986–1995), and Boston College (1996) before joining the Wolverines in 1997.
