Sweden: Örebro Black Knights welcome back homegrown OL Lucas Lavin
The Örebro Black Knights have strengthened their offensive line with the signing of Swedish-born Lucas Lavin. The 6-5, 327-pound lineman returns to the the Black Knights who he last played for in 2018. He spent the 2024 season with the Berlin Thunder (ELF) following prior stints in collegiate and professional football.
Lavin’s transatlantic journey
A product of the Nyköping Baltic Beasts (2006–2014) and Örebro (2015–2018), Lavin honed his skills in the U.S. at City College of San Francisco (2018–2019), Northern Colorado (2020–2021), and Tennessee-Chattanooga (2022), where he became the starting right tackle. He later attended the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa REDBLACKS training camp in 2023.
Coach Mutic emphasizes fit
Örebro Black Knights head coach and offensive line coach Branko Mutic highlighted Lavin’s value:
“Lucas is a very good player at a critical position in football. We are happy to have him, and he will fit in perfectly in what we are building as a identity of our offense and the team.”
Proven experience at multiple levels
Lavin’s blend of size, intelligence, and experience across European and North American leagues bolsters the Black Knights’ line as they aim to establish a dominant offensive identity in 2025.
