New rushing leader in Sweden with 4 games remaining

With four regular season games remaining in the six team Swedish Superserien, there is a new rushing leader as the Uppsala 86ers put on a show last week with the ground game leading the way. In fact, the stats leader lists are dominated by the top four teams, the Örebro Black Knights, Carlstad Crusaders, Stockholm Mean Machines and Uppsala 86ers.

Carlstad Crusaders QB Philip Juhlin still leads the league in Sweden after Carlstad blanked the Black Knights. Juhlin now has with 1,548 yards passing and 17 TDs. He finished as the passing leader in 2016 and 2015 as well. However, Anders Hermodsson of the Stockholm Mean Machines is not far behind with his 1,188 yards in six games. Hermodsson, who led Carlstad to four titles and who played in Italy in 2016, is the key to the Mean Machines an offense which has them in third place after six games. Orebro Black Knights quarterback Corbin Lawler slipped further behind the top two after a dismal night against Carlstad but he remains in third with 872 yards and 11 TDS. Limhamn Griffins’ Danish QB Crhristian Lisby has moved into fourth with 624 yards while Kiernan McDonagh of the Uppsala 86ers is fifth with 606 yards.

Michael Sander of the Stockholm Mean Machines leads all receivers with 548 yards while averaging 18.3 yards a catch. Austrialian Blake Marklew from the Uppsala 86ers sits fourth with his 397 yards while another member of the Stockholm Mean Machines receiving corps, Omar Fall, rounds out the top 5 with 312 yards.

Uppsala 86ers speedy running back Victor St Pierre Laviolette has taken the lead among all the rushers in the league after a 177 yard performance last week and now has 483 yards rushing. Orebro Black Knights leading rusher,  Kasper Wedberg has dropped into second with 406 yards while his teammate Marcus Hudritsch is third with 355 yards.
