Turnovers and defense spelled the difference in a game between two of the most physical teams in the country. Disruptive lineman, Caio Perreira forced two fumbles, both of which were recovered for touchdowns by Luis Polastri and Paulo Ricardo Junior.

It was a very physical game, we knew we had to play their run game and force them to pass. We focused on controlling the line of scrimmage and not give any holes to their backs, and then gang tackling,’’ said Polastri, who leads a ravenous T-Rex defense.

Polastri felt like conditioning was a key to the Timbo defenses increased intensity in the second half.

‘’We were physically prepared, and we kept the game hard, physical and intense,’’ he said.

Dynamic running back tandem Well Garcia and Claire Jose Simão each found the end-zone, and T-Rex signal caller, Carlos Bassani found Drew Hill with a touchdown pass. Diogo Bodenberg rounded out the scoring in Timbo with a field goal.

Timbo running back, Claire José Simões, pounds in a zone run behind his quick-stepping and aggressive offensive line.

AFI’s take: Timbo looks to be strong in all phases of the game. They have a big one against the Curitiba Crocodiles that will be a great litmus test for both teams.
