The Top 15 Scorers in NFL History

The NFL has seen some incredible football greats, so we’ve rounded up a list of the top 15 scorers in the history of the league:

  1. Morten Andersen

Anderson played from 1982 to 2007, and has 2 544 goals to his credit. He was nicknamed The Great Dane and is a former All-American at Michigan State University.

  1. Gary Anderson

Gary Allan Anderson was a placekicker from 1982 to 2004, and score 2 434 goals during that time. He was the 1st South African player to ever appear in regular season game for the NFL.

  1. Adam Vinatieri

Vinatieri has been a placekicker since 1996, and plays for the Indianapolis Colts. He has scored a total of 2 378 goals on the field, and played in 5 Super Bowls.

  1. Jason Hanson

Jason Hanson was a placekicker from 1992 through to 2012 and scored 2 150 goals. He spent the entirety of his career as a part of the Detroit Lions.

  1. John Carney

John Michael Carney played from 1988 to 2010, and scored 2 062 goals over the course of his career as a placekicker. He was signed up by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1987.

  1. Matt Stover

Stover played from 1991 to 2009 and cleared 2 004 goals. As of the start of the NFL season of 2009 he was rated the 3rd most accurate kicker in the NFL’s history.

  1. George Blanda

Blanda’s career, spanning the years between 1949 and 1975 is the longest in NFL history, and he racked up 2 002 points during this period. Had it been operational when he was still playing, punters betting in NZ and across the globe would have loved Blanda!

  1. Jason Elam

Jason Elam played from 1993 to 2009 and scored 1 983 times. The Denver Broncos drafted him in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft of 1993, and he spent 15 seasons with them.

  1. John Kasay

Kasay played from 1991 to 2011, and scored 1 970 goals. He was drafted in the 4th round of the NFL Draft of 1991 by the Seattle Seahawks, and went on to play for the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers as well.

  1. Sebastian Janikowski

Janikowski has been playing NFL since the year 2000, and has already racked up a score of 1 799 goals. He was born in Poland and plays for the Oakland Raiders.

  1. Norm Johnson

Norman Douglas Johnson played 18 seasons for the NFL from 1982 to 1999, and he racked up a score total of 1 736.

  1. David Akers

David Akers was signed by the Atlanta Falcons in 1997 as an undrafted free agent, and scored 1 721 times in the period between 1998 and 2013.

  1. Nick Lowery

Dominic Gerald Lowery, or Nick the Kick, was a placekicker for the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots from 1978 to 1996, and he has a score total of 1 711.

  1. Jan Stenerud

Stenerud spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Minnesota Vikings from 1967 to 1985, and scored 1 699 times while he did.

  1. Phil Dawson

Philip Drury Dawson of the Arizona Cardinals has been playing since 1999, and currently has a score total of 1 698. He could climb closer to the number one position on this list in time, as he still has plenty of play left.
