Tulip Bowl XXX & AFBN Finals July 5th & 6th in the Netherlands

Crusaders aim to spoil Eagles hopes of a Dutch “three-peat”

On Sunday July 6th, the thirtieth annual Tulip Bowl for the National Championship of American Football in the Netherlands will be played at the facilities of the Arnhem Falcons, in Arnhem.

Tulip Bowl XXX will be part of the league’s ‘Finals Weekend’. On Saturday July 5th and Sunday July 6th all AFBN finals will be contested in Arnhem, Netherlands. The weekend sees the return of an ‘American Football experience’ as it once took place  before the NFL Europe games of the Dutch Amsterdam Admirals. The entertainment, music, food, and drink this promises to contribute to a great atmosphere for young and old, American Football fanatics and sports enthusiasts alike.

This year’s rendition will be repeat of the 2012 and 2013 finals and will see the defending champions Alphen Eagles take on the Amsterdam Crusaders. For Alphen it will be their fourth straight appearance in Holland’s big game and the Eagles will be looking to “three-peat”.

Obviously the Crusaders have different thoughts about this. The team from Amsterdam is the record holder for National Championships with 16 titles in 23 appearances and are determined to break their current losing streak versus the Eagles.

In the Dutch National league (AFBN) regular season the Alphen Eagles ended with a perfect 7-0 record. In the playoffs they then dismissed the hosts of the finals weekend the Arnhem Falcons (37-13). The Amsterdam Crusaders finished their regular season with a 6-1 record, their only loss coming at the hand of the Eagles. In their playoff game, the Crusaders showed their dominance by dispatching of the Nijmegen Pirates by a score of 51-7.

The organization of the finals weekend has been granted to the Arnhem Falcons for the second year straight. The outstanding facilities and the only field turf American Football field in the nation are likely to be a great contributing factor to this.

The complete program for the weekend is as follows:
