VIDEO: Aussie Rugby Pro Joins Baylor University Bears

Aussie Peni Tagive’s First Days in American Football!

Baylor University’s ‘Inside CampBU’ sat down with new Australian import Peni Tagive. The 24-year-old  is a former Australian rugby player who is just now picking up the game. A naturally physical and athletic, the defensive end position seems a natural fit. He mentions the strategic and intellectual challenges of learning a new, complex game like American Football.

Tagive (6’4″, 220 lbs) is a former Australian professional rugby league footballer who played for the Sydney Roosters in the Australian National Rugby League (NRL). At the end of 2012, Tagive retired, stating a desire to focus on his studies. He soon enrolled at Baylor University and join the Bears American Football program.

We all at American Football International wish Peni a successful transition into American Football and hope he inspires young athletes in Australia and around the globe to pick up American Football! Could you imagine coming to America and playing a sport you’ve never played before?
