Wroclaw Panthers part ways with head coach Craig Kuligowski
The Wroclaw Panthers and head coach Craig Kuligowski have mutually agreed to separate after two seasons, concluding a tenure marked by fluctuating results in the European League of Football. Kuligowski, who initially joined as defensive coordinator in 2024 before taking over as head coach midseason, led the team to a 6-6 finish that year but fell short of playoffs with a 5-7 record in 2025.
Mixed results during tenure
Under Kuligowski, the Panthers showcased defensive prowess in 2024, finishing as the ELF’s top rushing defense. However, 2025 saw regression, with the unit ranking eighth against the run and sixth-worst in points allowed. Despite late-season surges in both campaigns—winning four of their final six games in 2024—the team failed to secure playoff berths either year.
Search begins for new leadership
General Manager Jakub Głogowski acknowledged Kuligowski’s dedication, stating the coach’s professionalism elevated the franchise. The Panthers have not yet announced a successor but emphasized continuity in their pursuit of European competitiveness.
Kuligowski’s coaching legacy
Before joining Wroclaw, the 55-year-old built a storied college career spanning three decades. He coached at Missouri, Miami (Fla.), and Alabama, mentoring six first-round NFL draft picks and three All-Americans. His 2017 Miami defense led the nation in sacks, while his 2018 Alabama unit ranked top-20 in multiple categories. Inducted into the University of Toledo’s Hall of Fame in 2022, Kuligowski’s collegiate success never fully translated to the ELF stage.
The Panthers now face a pivotal offseason, seeking a leader to harness their potential in a league increasingly dominated by established powers like the Vienna Vikings and Rhein Fire.
