Portugal: RB Jesuíno “Juzz Tiny” Furtado signs with defending champion Lisboa Devils

Two-time defending and undefeated Portuguese champions, the Lisboa Devils, have signed arguably the best Portuguese running back in the country, Jesuíno “Juzz Tiny” Furtado. After playing for the Cascais Crusaders for the 2016/2017 season, Tiny spent the 2017 season in Finland with the Tampere Saints.

Tiny carried the ball 99 times for 543 yards and five touchdowns for the Saints. He will join Brazilian Willian La’Prado in the Devils backfield where they will play alongside newly-signed quarterback Kyle Nolan.

While with the Crusaders, he led the Portuguese league in rushing this past season.

He is excited about that chance to play for the defending champions in Portugal:

” [I am] very excited about this new phase of my career, I always want to give my best on the field, but, above all, to help my teammates so that we can all fulfill the main objective, which is to regain the title of champions.”

The season in Finland’s Maple League helped Furtado to learn even more about American football, as well as improve his physical and technical skills.

“The Saints gave me the experience I needed to improve my game, I had stronger players tackling me and I was in a league where I had to push myself even more to achieve my goals. It was a great experience. I’m not bringing anything new to the Devils, I’m just going to help and try to learn from their quarterback and improve my game more. The Devils, as you all know, are a well-organized team.”
