CFL: Initial 2023 CFL Combine Global Players Invite List

With the CFL Draft slated for May 2, combine season is approaching with the country’s top football talents looking to impress Canadian Football League (CFL) general managers, coaches and player personnel.

The CFL has unveiled the rosters for the CFL Invitational Combine presented by New Era taking place on March 3 in Waterloo, Ont., and the CFL Combine in Edmonton from March 22 to 26.

The CFL Combine will feature the top prospects eligible for the 2023 CFL Draft and the top global players hoping to be selected at the 2023 CFL Global Draft.

Approximately 20 international prospects from around the globe are expected to take part, however, the league has already selected 10 global athletes for the event as it continues to scour the global football scene for further talent.

So far, the list features four German prospects, two Swedes, two Austrians, one Italian, and a single Spanish prospect.  Four of the players on the early invite list were participants in the NFL International Combine last October (Alejandro Fernandez, Leander Wiegand, Tobias Rodlauer, and Lion Schroeter), while the other six were playing NCAA football stateside at various levels, including Simon Sandberg of the Pac-12 (Oregon State Beavers).

Expect to see some more talent from Brazil, Mexico, and Japan added to the invite list later this year as those countries have been producing CFL global prospects on a regular basis.
