Every Maple League game will be televised 2017 – 45 games of Finnish american football in Ruutu!
Every game of the Maple League, the highest American football league in Finland, will be broadcasted in the season 2017 in Ruutu – internet-tv and in Nelonen Pro –channels. The deal includes 45 games – 42 regular season games and semifinals and final game, Maple Bowl XXXVIII.
“We have had excellent growth in participation and spectator number since 2000 and with the added visibility we want to create a foundation for future growth while bringing new opportunity for the people following football to see all games live,” says President of the Suomen Amerikkalaisen Jalkapallon liitto (SAJL) Roope Noronen.
“Having all games broadcasted is a historical landmark for Maple League and Finnish football and lifts the visibility of the game to a new level.”
The Maple League has been part of Ruutu from 2014. Next summer the amount of live Maple League match broadcasts will triple.
“Next summer is going to be very special for Ruutu in many ways and we will make history with American football as well,” comments Nelonen Media’s sports producer Kalle Takala.
“It’s awesome to be able to offer Maple League to our spectators as a complete product covering all the games.”
“As a premiere Finnish ball sports league Maple League suits well in our sports supply besides Liiga (ice hockey league), Veikkausliiga (soccer league) and Superpesis (Finnish baseball league),” Takala continues.
“We are continuously developing our product in various media platforms. There will be some whole new Maple League content available and not only on game days.”
There will be seven teams in Maple League in 2017: Helsinki Roosters, Seinäjoki Crocodiles, Turku Trojans, Wasa Wa1ld Royals, Tampere Saints, Porvoo Butchers and the riser from 1st division Hämeenlinna Huskies.
Every team plays twice against each other. Four team continue to semifinals. The final, Maple Bowl XXXVIII will be played in Sonera Stadium, Helsinki on the 9th of September 2017.
