Scotland’s Stirling Clansmen university American football team is headed for the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sports) final again this weekend facing the Birmingham Lions who they defeated for the title two years ago.
Gridiron UK spent a year following the Clansmen over the course of the 2013/2014 season and put together a wonderful documentary – Our Year – which depicts the team’s march towards the 2014 championship title.
‘Our Year’ documents the team’s progress through the season, competing in the BUCS Saltire division (against several opponents from the Edinburgh & Glasgow area), and their progress towards the national finals. It also shares the thoughts and feelings of key members of the team; graduating senior players who have been with the team for several years, and also of the coaching staff who give an insight into the physical, mental and emotional demands that are put on student athletes.
Gridiron TV has been filming and broadcasting American football across the UK since 2011, and had developed a strong relationship with the Stirling Clansmen during the course of their filming which grew into this documentary.
