Germany’s Munich Cowboys sign RB Darrell Tate

The Munich Cowboys of the German Football League have bolstered their ground game with the signing of running back Darrell Tate.

A veteran of European play, the 5’9″, 205 lb native of Alcoa, Tennessee, Tate gained notoriety when he somehow snuck into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facility in 2014 and ended up in the office of then running backs coach Tim Spencer who interviewed him.

While nothing came out of the interview, Tate’s determination was clear and it continues today.

Tate played at Maryville College (NCAA Div. III) in Maryville, Tennessee where he was All Conference in his senior year and a team captain.

Most recently, Tate played in the Pro Hunt team which he formed, in a game against Serbia. Since 2014, he has played for the Indjija Indians in Serbia, the Budapest Wolves (2015) and Nyíregyháza Tigers (2016) in Hungary. This past season he played for the Polish side, the Opole Wolverines and the Gießen Golden Dragons in Germany (GFL2).

Dejan Vujanic recruited Tate to the Indjija Indians in Serbia:

“Darrell is a great player and leader. I decided to add him to our team late in the season after seeing that he has everything our team was looking for. I had some doubts at first because he did not play in couple of years, but after seeing him in person, I wished that we had found him before the season started. In the four games he played he had over 500 yards of offense and 6 touchdowns. He can do almost anything on the field. He is an amazing running back of course, but he can also pass the ball, return kicks, punt, and long snap! “
