The Italian Football League playoffs officially begin this weekend as the Torino Giaguari, Ferrara Aquile, Ancona Dolphins, and Legnano Frogs battle in the Wild Card round for the right to continue their chase for the Italian Bowl and a place in the semifinals.

Ferrara Aquile @ Torino Giaguari
The first Wild Card matchup sends the Torino Giaguari and Ferrara Aquile into a high-stakes showdown in Borgaretto.
The Giaguari enter the postseason as the third seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-3 record. Much of their success has been driven by Ethan Greenfield, one of the most productive players in the IFL and the centerpiece of the Torino ground game.
The Aquile earned the final playoff berth on the last weekend of the regular season and arrive with momentum after defeating the Milan Rhinos. While Ferrara enters as the underdog, its defense has been one of the league’s toughest units against the run and faces the challenge of slowing down Greenfield and the Giaguari offense.
The winner advances to face the Parma Panthers in the semifinals.
Legnano Frogs @ Ancona Dolphins
The most evenly matched game of the weekend may take place at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Ancona, where the Ancona Dolphins host the Legnano Frogs.
The Dolphins exceeded expectations during the regular season and secured the fourth seed despite dealing with adversity at quarterback. Cameren Grodhaus emerged as a key figure for the offense, supported by veterans Dazzani, Giardinieri and Rotelli.
The Frogs, meanwhile, arrive with one of the deepest rosters in the league. Led by quarterback Joshua Taylor, Legnano has shown flashes of being one of the most dangerous teams in the IFL, combining offensive firepower with a defense capable of creating problems for any opponent.
Semifinal spots await
The stakes could not be higher. The winner of Ancona Dolphins–Legnano Frogs will advance to face the unbeaten Firenze Guelfi, while the winner of Torino Giaguari–Ferrara Aquile earns a semifinal date with the Parma Panthers.
The regular season is over. From this point forward, every possession matters and every mistake could end a championship dream.
