Japan: Panasonic Impulse remain unbeaten with overwhelming win over All Mitsubishi Lions

In a dominant performance, the defending XLeague champion Panasonic Impulse (4-0) defeated the All Mitsubishi Lions (1-3) 51-7 in the fourth round of the X1 SUPER. This victory marks the Impulse’s fourth consecutive win, solidifying their position as a top contender in the league.

Early lead for the Lions
The game started with the Lions taking an early lead when quarterback Yuki Yamanaka scored on a 3-yard touchdown run. However, the momentum shifted dramatically at the end of the first quarter. Panasonic’s quarterback Yuya Araki connected with wide receiver Kohei Naganuma for a 19-yard touchdown pass, tying the game and igniting the Impulse offense.

A scoring explosion
The second quarter saw Panasonic take control. After a safety, Araki threw two more touchdown passes, one to Brennan Tsubasa and another to Yoshiaki Toma. Running back Seima Koizumi added a 15-yard touchdown run, and linebacker Shota Aone returned an interception for a touchdown, pushing the score to 42-7 by halftime.

Second half dominance
In the second half, the Impulse continued to dominate. Running back Victor Jamal Mitchell and quarterback Hiromitsu Kobayashi each added touchdown runs, bringing the final score to 51-7.

Individual standout performances
For Panasonic, quarterback Yuya Araki completed 12 of 21 passes for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Hiromitsu Kobayashi added 21 yards through the air and 1 touchdown on the ground. Running back Norimi Koizumi led the rushing attack with 54 yards and a touchdown, while Victor Mitchell contributed 28 yards and a touchdown.

On the receiving end, Kohei Naganuma caught 3 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, while Brennan Tsubasa had 1 reception for 24 yards and a touchdown. Yoshiaki Toma also made an impact with 2 catches for 26 yards and a touchdown.

The Lions struggled to find their rhythm, with Yuki Yamanaka completing 7 of 16 passes for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back Isaiah Malcome led the Lions’ rushing attack with 73 yards on 21 carries, while Takeshi Fukuda was the top receiver with 2 catches for 21 yards.
