Defending GFL South champ Unicorns face biggest challenge yet
Schwäbisch Hall (2-0) will face the Saarland Hurricanes (2-0) in a clash of two yet undefeated teams.
Two very similar squads will meet on Saturday in the Saarland town of Neunkirchen. Both teams have won one home and one away game each, Saarland beating the Stuttgart Scorpions and Munich Cowboys and the Unicorns defeating Marbug Mercaneries and the Allgäu Comets, respectively.
Unicorns head coach Jordan Neuman awaits a fierce battle against an opponent that is no longer satisfied with just reaching the playoffs after some huge investments in their player quality.
The key to a Schwäbisch Hall victory will be stopping the trio of offensive playmakers the Hurricanes have . German quarterback Marco Ehrenfried is supported by running back Corey Brown and his new favorite receiver, American David Oku.
Said Unicorns Head Coach Jordan Neumann:
“The continuity of playing together for another season as well as two new American imports make the Hurricanes a serious threat to be watched. I expect an explosive offense and a a defense that will be more troublesome than Marburg’s or the Comets’.”
The Unicorns are glad to welcome back one of their defensive mainstays in safety Marc Scherenberg and are hopeful that defensive back Christian Köppe will be back again also.
For the first time this year, the Unicorns were able to play with all of their three running backs, giving workhorses Danny Washington and Jerome Manyema some breaks with the addition of newcomer Maurice Schüle.
