LIVESTREAM FINLAND AFI tv: UNC Crusaders @ Helsinki Roosters, June 30, 17:30 CET (5:30 pm, 11:30 ET)

The Helsinki Roosters hope to stop their two game slide tonight as they take on a young UNC Crusaders team. Finland’s 2021 runner ups hope to get back in the win column as they are fighting for a playoff spot as the season wears on.

The Roosters fell to 2-3 last week after a 26-13 road loss to their crosstown rivals the Helsinki Wolverines. In that game, quarterback Bryce Stancomb and the Helsinki offense, particularly the ground game. struggled. In total, the Roosters were held to an abysmal minus 0 yards rushing. To make matters worse, the passing game struggled without import Aymeric Nicault.

Defensively, homegrown defensive lineman Christer Berg has played well for the Roosters this season. Linebacker Taavi Aronpaa is also an impact player at Helsinki’s second level. In the secondary, Emory Polley and Nolan Bernat hope to get their hands on any errant passes as the Wolverines have been airing it out to make big plays all season.

The Crusaders go into Finland’s capital city looking for their first win of the season. It’s been a long and frustrating season for UNC to this point and last week was no exception. The Crusaders lost 82-12 as all three phases of their game looked poor. Quarterback Shay Netter completed only seven of his 31 passes, had three interceptions, and was sacked seven times. The Crusaders finished the game with -20 yards of offense.

Defensively, things were just as bad as they gave up 559 yards and 82 points to the Kuopio Steelers. This young team hopes to improve its inexperienced talent and come back to be more competitive in 2022. Two exciting players to watch on this team are brother Miles and Nolan Corpening. The two speedy Americans can change the game with their quickness in all three phases.
