LIVESTREAM: Germany – Munich Cowboys @Kirchdorf Wildcats, August 11, 4p CET (10a ET)

The Munich Cowboys (3-7) head into Kirchdorf’s Energie Arena stadium Saturday, August 10 looking to right the ship against the Kirchdorf Wildcats (3-6-1) as the German Football League enters the last third of the season.

These two teams played each other on July 21 with Kirchdorf eking out a 13-12 win, kicking the game-winning field goal with four seconds on the clock.

In that game, Kirchdorf quarterback Tom Schmidtke  threw for 251 yards and a touchdown while receiver Clemens Erlsbacher hauled in 12 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Baris Dasar kicked two field goals and the PAT.

For Munich, Trenton Miller threw for 148 yards but was sacked five times. Manuel Schimpfhauser scored on a 75 yard interception return while defensive lineman Tom Ellwitz recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Munich failed on both extra point attempts.

Wildcats quarterback Cameron Birse  has been sent home by the club this week for undisclosed reasons so Schmidtke will finish the season at quarterback. Schmidtke has started the last two games, the loss to the Ingolstad Dukes last week and the win against Munich. Erlsbacher is the leading target with 739 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. He is followed by Brandon Cox with 34 catches for 454 yards. Running back Alex Braunsperger leads the team in rushing with 546 yards on 148 carries.

Munich come into this contest after beating the basement-dwelling Stuttgart Scorpions 21-14 last week. In that game, Miller threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns

Miller is averaging 247 yards passing per game, now third best among all quarterbacks. However,  he is the entire offense as the Cowboys running game is anemic averaging just 24.7 yards a game without scoring a touchdown all season on the ground.
