The Hildesheim Invaders (6-3) return to Helios Homefield Saturday looking to bounce back from a rough outing when they host the Berlin Rebels (2-7) in their final home game of the 2026 German Football League regular season.
The Invaders have already punched their ticket to the playoffs and sit third in the GFL North, but they will want a much different performance after being shut out 31-0 by the unbeaten Dresden Monarchs last weekend. Berlin, meanwhile, comes to Hildesheim trying to snap a difficult stretch after falling 29-13 to the Düsseldorf Panther.
Hildesheim looks for a response
The trip to Dresden never got going for the Invaders, who were held scoreless for the first time this season as the Monarchs built a 21-0 halftime lead and eventually pulled away.
That result came on the heels of a win over the Braunschweig Lions, and Saturday gives Hildesheim an immediate opportunity to get back on track before the postseason. With their playoff spot secure, the Invaders can use their home finale to rebuild some momentum heading into the final week of the regular season.
Berlin needs four quarters
The Rebels showed last week that they can move the football, but their 29-13 loss to Düsseldorf also showed how quickly a game can get away from them.
Tyquell Fields led Berlin to a 13-7 halftime advantage, with Nazar Bombata scoring on a one-yard run before Fields broke loose for a 26-yard touchdown. The game flipped immediately after halftime when Düsseldorf returned the kickoff 100 yards for a score and followed with a 53-yard interception return touchdown. The Panther put up 20 points in the third quarter and never gave the lead back.
Fields remains central to what Berlin wants to do. In the Rebels’ earlier 24-22 win over the Braunschweig Lions, his ability to create through the air helped Berlin erase a 16-0 deficit.
Home finale carries weight
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Helios Homefield, where the Invaders will close their home schedule with their White Out Game.
For Hildesheim, the afternoon is about responding after the setback in Dresden and getting its game back in order before the playoffs. For the Rebels, it is another chance to turn a promising first half into the complete performance that escaped them last weekend.
