The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (6-0) head to Regensburg on Saturday looking to keep their perfect German Football League season intact as they face the Regensburg Phoenix (1-4), who are coming off the first victory in club history.
While the Unicorns strengthened their grip on first place in the GFL South with a dominant 28-0 win over the Ravensburg Razorbacks, the newly promoted Phoenix earned a milestone 23-16 road victory over the Düsseldorf Panther, giving them a welcome boost of confidence heading into one of their toughest tests of the season.
Unicorns firing on both sides
The Unicorns continue to establish themselves as one of the league’s most complete teams. Their defense was outstanding against Ravensburg, pitching the first shutout of the Razorbacks’ season while forcing three interceptions from Monteze Latimore, including a 50-yard pick-six.
Offensively, Kelley Joiner provided the spark with an 81-yard touchdown run before quarterback Lars Heidrich connected twice with Rayjuon Pringle for second-half touchdown passes that put the game away.
With six victories in six games, Schwäbisch Hall has consistently shown the ability to win in different ways, whether through explosive offense or suffocating defense.

Phoenix rested and refreshed
The Phoenix have not played since June 6, when they earned their first ever GFL victory in club history with that win over Düsseldorf. After nearly a month between games, Regensburg returns to the field hoping the extended break has provided an opportunity to build on that milestone performance.
Quarterback Cameron Yowell sparked the offense in that victory, throwing two touchdown passes to Nicolas Hayes before Nebechi Abana added a rushing score. The defense also came up with several game-changing plays, including a fumble recovery by Jaylin Woods and a fourth-quarter safety that helped seal the historic win.
Head coach Derrick Wilson’s squad has shown throughout its debut GFL season that it can compete despite its record, and the extra preparation time could prove valuable against one of the league’s top teams.
Still, the Unicorns enter as clear favorites. Head coach Felix Brenner has already emphasized that his team will not overlook Regensburg, especially after the Phoenix showed what they are capable of before the extended break.
If Schwäbisch Hall continues to play the disciplined football that has fueled its unbeaten start, the league leaders will be well positioned to leave Regensburg with another important victory and remain firmly in control of the GFL South race.
