LIVESTREAM World Games – Women’s Flag Qtrfinals 1: Aug.16, 02:30-07:00 CET (2:30 am-7 am, 8:30 pm Aug. 15-1 am Aug. 16 ET)
There’s no room for errors on the third and most exciting day so far of the flag football tournament at The World Games in Chengdu. Lose and you’re out. Win and an opportunity to play for the coveted goal medal beckons.
The eight IFAF women’s teams have reached the quarterfinals stage and once the winners emerge from those games on Saturday morning Chengdu time (7 hours ahead of CET / 12 hours ahead of US EST) the afternoon semifinals will determine who will battle for the championship crown on Sunday.
There will be no familiarity among opponents as none of the matchups have occurred at either the past two IFAF world championships, the 2023 IFAF continental tournaments or the 2022 World Games.
USA vs Italy 2.30am CET
The world champion United States are an offensive powerhouse with Vanita Krouch targeting a trio of explosive receivers in Ashley Klam, Izzy Geraci and Madison Fulford, who each caught four touchdowns during the group stages. USA won all three games to top Group A, beating Canada, Austria and China.
Italy seeks a first win having lost to Great Britain, Japan and Mexico and will look to spring a surprise led by veteran quarterback Carolina Sgroi. Receiver Giada Zocca has caught three of the five touchdown passes Sgroi has thrown.
