London Blitz Improve to 2-0; Dominate Bristol Aztecs in Premier League South

For the second Sunday in a row the the British American football club London Blitz were firing on all cylinders, and dominating their opponent in all three phases of the game – on offense, defense, and special teams. The Blitz offense exploded and, after the initial drive, the defense dominated the Aztecs. The final score was 54-13.

This week it was against the Bristol Aztecs, who jumped out to a quick lead on a 52-yard touchdown pass just five plays into the game. But the Bristol offense wouldn’t touch the scoreboard again until the final minute of the game, while the Blitz offense couldn’t stop scoring.

Temi Oduyemi answered the Aztec touchdown with a 57-yard burst up the middle for a score. Then it was quarterback Josh Adamson hooking up with Michael Aboujaoude for a 43-yard touchdown – their second scoring connection in as many games. And field goal kicker Luke Naughton was good from 35- and 27-yards, taking the halftime Blitz lead to 20-7.

Complete is the only word to describe the afternoon.

All three quarterbacks on the Blitz threw a touchdown pass. Oduyemi added a second long touchdown run, this one of 68-yards. Aboujaoude caught a second TD, and Dominic Husbands added a pair himself. The final score from Bristol, 54-13.

Just as important as the victory, the Blitz emerged from the trip to the southwest without any significant injuries, meaning they will be as close to as full strength as possible for their upcoming game against Aix-en-Provence Argonautes.

The 2014 Division II French champions are the first of two IFAF Europe Champions League games for the Blitz, with Finsbury Park playing host to the first on Saturday, May 2nd, 2014

Last season in the Champions League, the Blitz were able to topple the Nice Dauphins, who were visiting from across The Channel. Hopefully the precedence is set.

The Argonautes have already beaten the third member of their Champions League group, Madrid’s Osos Rivas, making a win for the Blitz critical, if they hope to advance.
