Multiple Alabama football players tested positive for coronavirus after workout sessions together

According to a number of sources, at least five members of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team have tested positive for COVID-19.

Many of the players had met together for workout sessions earlier this week and now more may have to enter quarantine after coming in contact with those infected during player-led voluntary workouts.

AL.com said at least one of the infected players, who was asymptomatic, attended the session. The report stated there had been no official word on the exact number of people on the team who tested positive, but as stated there were at least five.

As many as 50 players took part in the workouts organized by players. The SEC recently announced its football programs could begin hosting voluntary workouts on June 8.

Alabama isn’t the first school to have players test positive for COVID-19. Multiple Oklahoma State players tested positive this week, and Iowa State announced its first positive test within the athletic department on Wednesday.
