UFL: Orlando Storm spoil Birmingham home opener with shutout win

In a dominant performance, the Orlando Storm (4-0) rolled into Birmingham and left with a convincing 16-0 shutout victory over the Birmingham Stallions (1-3) in their United Football League home opener. The Storm’s defense was the star of the show, stifling the Stallions at every turn.

This was the first shutout victory in UFL history.

Early momentum for Orlando
The atmosphere at Protective Stadium was electric as former championship coach Skip Holtz was honored during the coin toss. However, the excitement quickly faded for Birmingham as both defenses set the tone early. Orlando broke through late in the first quarter when quarterback Jack Plummer led a methodical drive, culminating in a touchdown pass to Cam Camper, marking Camper’s first catch of the season.

Birmingham struggles to find rhythm
The Stallions briefly sparked hope with some solid runs from Anthony McFarland and a 22-yard gain by Jaydon Mickens, but their drive stalled, a recurring theme throughout the game. Orlando’s offense found its stride in the second quarter, with Plummer connecting with Jashaun Corbin and Camper before adding a field goal from Michael Lantz to extend the lead to 10-0.

Defensive dominance seals the shutout
Birmingham’s struggles continued as they managed only 107 total yards by halftime. Despite a quarterback change to Michael Hiers, the Stallions couldn’t find their footing. Orlando’s defense, led by Kyahva Tezino with 10 tackles, held Birmingham to just 36 rushing yards and a dismal 1-for-13 on third downs. Lantz added another field goal in the second half, and the Stallions’ best chance to score was thwarted in the red zone, preserving the shutout.

With this victory, Orlando remains undefeated and heads home to face the St. Louis Battlehawks next week, while Birmingham looks to regroup after a tough loss before facing the D.C. Defenders in the second game of a two-game home stand.
