Plenty of surprises on German stats leaderboards

After five rounds of play in the 14 game German Football League season, some surprising leaders have emerged in the three key offensive categories, passing, rushing and receiving yardage.

What is also clear is that no one team is dominating the stats although three teams remain undefeated, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Hildesheim Invaders and Braunschweig New Yorker Lions.

The Invaders, Unicorns and Lions along with the Stuttgart Scorpions and Munich Cowboys all have two representatives among the Top 5 in the three categories while the Marburg Mercenaries, Cologne Crocodiles, Potsdam Royals, Kirchdorf Wildcats and Dresden Monarchs have one each. Teams without any players include the Allgäu Comets, Ingolstadt Dukes, Dusseldorf Panther, Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, Berlin Rebels and, surprisingly, the Frankfurt Universe.

Passing

Marburg Mercenaries QB Jake Sullivan has taken the passing yardage lead after throwing for 1,609 yards in five games. Right behind him in 2nd is Casey Therriault from the Hildesheim Invaders who has 1,577 and a league-best 23 TDs. Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns QB Jadrian Clark is 3rd with 1,400 yards while Michael Eubank of the Stuttgart Scorpions is 4th with 1,363 yards. Rounding out the Top 5 is Brady Bolles of the Munich Cowboys with 1,356.

Rushing

As he did in 2018 for much of the season with the Hamburg Huskies, Colby Goodwyn, now a RB with the Cologne Crocodiles, leads all rushers with 533 yards with Stuttgart Scorpions RB Giacomo De Pauli  is 2nd and has 408 yards while Braunschweig QB Brandon Connette is a surprising 3rd with 344. His RB, Chris McClendon is 4th with 327 and a league-leading 11 TDs while Gennadiy Adams of the Potsdam Royals is 5th and has 311 yards.

Kirchdorf Wildcats WR Robert Ruiz tops all receivers with 761 yards which includes a record-breaking 365 yard (!) receiving day in a 55-49 loss to the Marburg Mercenaries. But Jaylen Zachery of the Munich Cowboys is only a yard behind with 760 yards. Hildesheim Invaders WR Nathaniel Morris is the 3rd leading receiver in the GFL with 629 while  Kevonn Mabon of the Dresden Monarchs is 4th with 623 and Tyler Rutenbeck of the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns is 5th with 511.
