Poland: Warsaw Mets bolster secondary with veteran safety Deyleon Williams
The Warsaw Mets have made a significant addition to their defense for the 2026 Polish Football League season, signing experienced American safety Deyleon Williams, a 6’3”, 196-pound playmaker from Cedar Hill, Texas, with a proven track record across multiple international leagues.
A championship pedigree
Williams brings a winning mentality to Warsaw, having won the 2024 LFA championship with the Chihuahua Caudillos in Mexico before joining the Munich Ravens mid-season in the European League of Football. He helped the Ravens reach the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, though they fell 40-37 to the Paris Musketeers in a thrilling first-round matchup. Prior to that, Williams demonstrated his versatility and production during the 2023 season with the Marburg Mercenaries in Germany’s GFL 1, where he recorded 63 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 8 pass breakups, and scored two defensive touchdowns—one on a pick-six and another on a 65-yard fumble return.
Collegiate versatility on display
His professional success was built on a diverse college career that showcased his special teams value and defensive flexibility. At Midwestern State (Division 2) in 2014, he emerged as a dual-threat return specialist, accumulating 755 all-purpose yards with two punt return touchdowns—including a 47-yard score. He later transferred to the University of West Florida, appearing in six games during their 2016 national championship run. Williams finished his collegiate career at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2018, where he started 10 games at safety/linebacker, recording 67 tackles, 7 pass breakups, and earning team captain honors for the conference championship game.
Proven leader and playmaker
Beyond his stats, Williams has consistently been recognized as a leader, serving as an honorary team captain in Marburg and being voted captain by players and coaches during his two seasons with the Tampere Saints in Finland. With the Saints, he reached back-to-back championship games in 2021 and 2022 while also leading the league in kick return yards. Williams emphasized that he was drawn to the Mets by the organization’s clear vision and ambition, stating his goal is to help build a “winning culture based on hard work, discipline and physical play.” His experience and ball-hawking ability should immediately upgrade the Mets’ secondary as they look to compete in the PFL.
