Prague Black Panthers Play & Win 2 Games on the Same Day

Black Panthers topple former top-ranked Swarco Raiders & Czech League rival Příbram Bobcats two hours apart

This past Saturday, the Prague Black Panthers, who are ranked as the number eight team in the ESS Europe’s Top 20 list, upped their “toughness level” several notches.

Normally teams need at least four days, and usually a week, to recover from a game and then to prepare for the next opponent. The Black Panthers threw that habit right out the window by playing a game at 1 p.m. against one of the toughest teams in Europe, the Swarco Raiders, in the Austrian league (AFL). And then two hours after finishing that game they were back on the field again to face the Příbram Bobcats, the second place team in the Czech league (CLAF).

Not only did they play these two games back to back, they won both also. The Swarco Raiders were jockeying for first place with Vienna, so a win was important to them. Prague left no doubt as to who wanted the game more jumping out to a 27-7 lead and then cruising to a 40-21 victory.

Then they removed their pads, and two hours later put them on again to take the field against the Bobcats. Now how tough was that? The Bobcats had given Prague all they could handle in their first meeting this season, and this time they almost did it, succumbing finally to the Black Panthers 34-27.

How do your prepare mentally prepare for a test like this, let alone physically?
