Quarterback Ryan Kasdorf is returning to the Ancona Dolphins after leading them to an undefeated regular season in 2016.
Kasdorf, 6’1″, 212 lb from Sherman Oaks, California, was a three-year starter at Morningside College (NAIA) (Sioux City, Iowa) and led the nation in passing efficiency all three years. He finished his career with 10,932 passing yards and 121 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,315 yards and 14 touchdowns. Twice he was named an NAIA All American and in his senior season earned NAIA Player of the Year honors.
His high school performance was equally impressive. He was named California’s Gatorade Player of the Year in his junior year while playing for Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. Kasdorf passed for 3,291 yards and 36 touchdowns, completing 69% of his pass attempts along the way that season.
In 2016, Kasdorf led the Dolphins into the Italian quarterfinals after finishing the regular season with a 10-0 record. He recorded a pass efficiency rating of 164.4, tops in Italy. He threw for 2,415 yards and 32 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He also rushed for another 472 yards and eight touchdowns.
Ancona head coach Roberto Rotelli was understandably pleased to have Kasdorf back with his team:
“I am proud to announce that Ryan Kasdorf has decided to return to dress in the green orange colors of the GLS Dolphins. Despite receiving several offers from other European teams, Ryan wanted to play in Ancona again in 2017 . He knows the environment, the coaching staff, his teammates and our philosophy of play. Thanks to him, for the first time in our history we were unbeaten in the regular season, and we are confident that with Ryan our offensive potential will remain at a very level.”
