The Seinäjoki Crocodiles have made a significant addition to their 2026 roster, signing American defensive lineman Kevin Pointer Jr, who brings NCAA Division I experience and recent NFL and CFL camp invites to the Finnish Maple League.
Climbing the ranks
Pointer’s football journey began in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where his standout high school performances broke school records and drew college scouts. He started his collegiate career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2019 before transferring to Wake Forest University of the ACC in 2021. Over 43 games with the Demon Deacons, Pointer compiled 89 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and seven sacks, establishing himself as a disruptive force along the defensive line.
Pursuing the pros
Despite his strong college resume, Pointer went unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders that April and participated in their rookie minicamp. When an NFL deal didn’t materialize, he headed north for a stint with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in May 2025, though he was released during final roster cuts in June.
New chapter in Finland
Now, the 6’1”, 285-pound lineman is set to bring his power and persistence to Seinäjoki, where the Crocodiles are eager to deploy his proven run-stopping and pass-rushing ability. Pointer’s arrival signals the club’s ambition to bolster their defense with high-level talent as they prepare for the upcoming Maple League campaign.
