The Las Rozas Black Demons preserved their perfect record, staging an impressive second-half comeback to defeat the Zaragoza Hurricanes 28–20 in a pivotal Liga Nacional de Fútbol Americano clash. The win pushes the defending champions to 3–0, while the Hurricanes fall to 1–2-1 after letting a strong early lead slip away.
Hurricanes strike early
The Zaragoza Hurricanes came out with intensity, dominating the first half behind a stellar performance from quarterback Juan Baro. He connected with Alberto Callen for an early touchdown pass before adding another score on the ground, helping Zaragoza jump out to a surprising 14–0 advantage. The Black Demons, usually tough on defense, looked out of sorts early and struggled to contain the home team’s balanced attack. Just before halftime, Las Rozas finally found some rhythm as Daniel Romero punched in a rushing touchdown to cut the deficit to 14–7 and shift some momentum heading into the break.
Demons defense shifts momentum
The second half belonged to the visitors. After a missed field goal attempt, the Black Demons defense came up huge when Julio Aguado picked off Baro and returned it for a game-tying touchdown. Zaragoza responded resiliently, with Baro rushing for his second score of the day, though a failed extra point left the lead at just 20–14. That missed point proved critical, as Las Rozas leaned on their powerful run game down the stretch. Romero took over late, adding two more touchdowns to complete his hat trick and seal the 28–20 comeback victory.
Despite the loss, Zaragoza showed they can hang with the league’s best, while Las Rozas demonstrated the poise and execution of a championship-caliber team when it matters most.
