Spain: Osos Rivas grind out gritty 14-7 win over Zaragoza Hurricanes

The Osos Rivas (1-0) opened their Liga Nacional de Fútbol Americano season with a hard-fought defensive battle, holding off a persistent Zaragoza Hurricanes (0-1) squad for a narrow 14-7 victory at home in Rivas Vaciamadrid.

A defensive struggle from the start
The game was a low-scoring affair defined by tough defense. After a scoreless first quarter, the Osos struck first with a touchdown pass from new American quarterback Anthony Arnou to Rubén Quintana. The Hurricanes responded immediately, however, tying the game before halftime on a long outside run by Jesús Sánchez to make it 7-7 at the break.

Arnou delivers the decisive blow
The game’s defining play came in the second half when Arnou connected on a deep pass to his fellow American teammate, Michiah Quick, for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. The Osos offense did just enough to secure the lead, but it was the defense that sealed the victory.

Hurricanes fall just short
The Zaragoza Hurricanes had multiple chances to tie or win the game, driving deep into Osos territory in the final moments. However, the Osos Rivas defense stood firm, making crucial stops to deny the Hurricanes and preserve the hard-earned win.
