Team USA rolls over Team Nordic in International Bowl IX, Miller named MVP

Team USA Under 19 Selects didn’t waste time against Team Nordic (Sweden, Denmark, Finland & Norway) in International Bowl IX at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, as quarterback Jeff Miller hit Harrington Greer (South Bend, Indiana) for a 73-yard score on the second play of the game. One play after a Nordic fumble, Miller connected with Earnest Crownover III (Grandview, Texas) on a 24-yard TD.

Throw in a USA safety on a bad punt snap, and it was 17-0 less than four minutes in. For the first quarter, the U.S. outgained Nordic 144 yards to minus-16.

While Team Nordic got on the scoreboard with a 7-yard run by Emil Neumann in the second quarter, the Miller-to-Greer connection struck for two more TDs, and another punt-snap miscue recovered by Defensive Player of the Game Joe Watskey (Edwardsville, Kansas) led to a 2-yard sneak by Justin Kapp (Manassas, Virginia) and a 38-7 halftime lead.

Miller finished the first half 12-of-13 for 247 yards and four scores and was rightly named MVP of the game.

Second-half U.S. points came from a 9-yard TD run by Alec Meza (Eloy, Arizona) and a 41-yard field goal by John Miller (Valdosta, Georgia).

Lasse Engel came through with a big highlight for Nordic, with a 96-yard kickoff return for a TD.

Greer finished with five catches for 147 yards and three scores. Aaron Ochoa (Odessa, Texas) led the U.S. with five tackles, while Jarrett Patton (Flagler Beach, Florida) had two of the defense’s eight sacks.
