As US colleges discover the potential that exists throughout the world in American football, more and more players are finding their way to American schools to play football and gain an education.
The latest pair from Great Britain are wide receiver Michael Akinlade and lineman Jordan Morris both from the Birmingham Lions university program. Akinlade was the championship game MVP in the Lions thrilling 19-13 victory over the Stirling Clansmen.
Akindale is headed to Northern Michigan (Marquette, Michigan)(NCAA Div. II) and is a graduate of the London Blitz organization where he trained at the Dynamic Sports Academy for five years before moving on to the Lions.
Morris is taking his skills to Albany State (Albany, Georgia) where he will play for the Albany State Golden Rams (NCAA Div. II).
London Blitz juniors headed to US high schools
Benji Power, Rory Jones and Moraf Montanary are all off to play high school football in the United States.
Power has been with the Blitz for a couple of seasons, predominantly playing offensive line but he moved to linebacker this past season which is where he will line up for his new team.
Jones has played wide receiver for the Blitz juniors for two seasons and will be keeping this position and returning kicks for his US school.
Montanary has just finished his first season with the Blitz U19 team, his first playing the sport.
