After struggling in the first matchup against St. Louis (a 16-10 loss to open the season), Ta’amu turned things around in this game throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns. His ability to escape pressure and add 61 rushing yards made a significant impact on the game. Ta’amu’s performance solidified his status as a key player for the Defenders as they prepare for their next game in Birmingham.
Defensive Player of the Week: Cam Gill
On the defensive side, Cam Gill of the Louisville Kings earned the NOBULL Defensive Player of the Week honor. In Louisville’s first-ever victory, 24-22 over the Gamblers, Gill was a force on the field, recording eight tackles and two sacks. His relentless pursuit of the quarterback helped the Kings dominate Houston’s offense, contributing to a total of four sacks for the team. Special Teams Player of the Week: Tanner Brown
Tanner Brown also from the Louisville Kings was recognized as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
