UFL Week Two Standouts: Henderson, Kidd, and Hoyland Shine in thrilling performances

The United Football League announced its Week Two Players of the Week, showcasing standout performances from a weekend filled with upsets and thrilling finishes. Here’s a look at the players who made a significant impact on their teams.

Offensive Player of the Week: Nolan Henderson, Houston Gamblers
Nolan Henderson of the Houston Gamblers earned the Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading his team to an impressive upset victory over the Birmingham Stallions. Stepping in midway through the second quarter due to an injury, Henderson turned the game around and delivered a redemption performance after being pulled in Week One. He finished with 186 passing yards and a solid 90.1 quarterback rating, along with 23 rushing yards. His most crucial moment came on a 4th-and-16 play, where he connected with Armani Rogers to keep the drive alive, ultimately setting up the game-winning field goal. Henderson’s leadership was key in securing one of the biggest upsets of the season.

Defensive Player of the Week: Sam Kidd, DC Defenders
Sam Kidd of the DC Defenders was named the NOBULL Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in helping his team secure its first win of the season. Kidd recorded seven total tackles, including six solo stops, and added his first interception of the year along with two pass breakups. His relentless play was instrumental in controlling the game defensively, and he will be a crucial player to watch as the Defenders face a tough challenge against Houston’s high-powered offense this Saturday.

Special Teams Player of the Week: John Hoyland, Houston Gamblers
John Hoyland, also from the Houston Gamblers, took home the Special Teams Player of the Week award after a stellar performance. He went a perfect 5-for-5 on field goal attempts, contributing 16 of the Gamblers’ 22 points. The highlight of his day came with just two seconds left on the clock when he drilled a 50-yard walk-off field goal to clinch the victory for Houston. Hoyland’s clutch kicking was a defining moment in the game and showcased his ability to perform under pressure.

These players not only shined individually but also played pivotal roles in their teams’ successes during Week Two of the UFL season.
