The 2nd Annual World University American Football Championships kick off on June 1 in Monterrey, Mexico featuring teams from the United States, Mexico, Japan, India, China and Guatemala.
The championship final is scheduled for June 11.
The inaugural event took place in Uppsala, Sweden in 2014 with five countries competing and Mexico emerging as the winner after beating Japan in the final.
Organized by FISU, the International University Sports Federation, the event is one of 70 university sports championships played around the world.
The tournament will be played on the Monterrey Tech football fields including:
- La Escamilla with six fields for training sessions.
- Borrego Sport Center with two fields for games and or training sessions.
- Main stadium will be Monterrey Tech Stadium that can accommodate 35,000 fans.
A number of other countries showed interest in attending including Canada, South Korea, Sweden, Finland, American Samoa and Kenya.
