ELF: 2025 Frankfurt Galaxy – A Roster Breakdown

By Michael Voitek

The Frankfurt Galaxy, under new head coach Bart Andrus, are looking set with the 2025 European League of Football season fast approaching.

They have signed 4 A-imports and 6 E-imports.

After a disappointing year (4-8) for a usually very solid franchise, the Galaxy will try to bounce back and have a stellar 2025 season.

Offense

Quarterback

Matthew McKay took over for Luke Zahradka last year after he went down with a shoulder injury and put up a decent stat line with 1,400 yards, 10 TDs and 3 interceptions. McKay is a former D-I recruit and had played at multiple high level college programs. We’ll see if he can carve a name for himself in Europe this year.

It appears many teams have learned from my sage wisdom to not use an American import slot on a RB as the Galaxy have re-signed Austrian RB Sandro Platzgummer. Not much has to be said for Platzgummer as he is one of the most famous players in ELF history having spent three seasons on the New York Giants practice roster as part of the International Player Pathway program. We’ll see if he can stay injury free in 2025. Gerald Ameln, who played for the Centurions in 2024 and put up 588 yards and 5 touchdowns, should be a fine backup.

Wide Receiver

Kevin Kaya will be back which is huge for this team after a great 2024 season. The Galaxy had a splash signing in Terry Wright who played at D-I Purdue and was on many rosters in the NFL. He and Kaya should make a lethal duo.

Offensive Line

Keanu Ebanks provides valuable veteran leadership to the Galaxy Oline.

Three names: Keanu Ebanks (played for Paris in 2024), Yannic Kiehl, Steven Nielsen. This trio will absolutely be a wall for this Galaxy team and should make Frankfurt formidable in 2025.

Defense

Defensive line

Frankfurt was bottom 5 in both rushing and receiving defense, that will have to change this year if they want help. The D line welcomes back Daniel Hartmann who had 5 sacks last year and the Galaxy have signed Martin Pinter who had 7 sacks last year for the Centurions. Those two should provide a great pass rush and change the look of this defense.

Linebacker

The linebacking crew will be led by Toby Naylor, an E-import from England. Naylor played for the Sea Devils last year where he notched 69 tackles in 11 games. He originally came from the Bristol Academy before playing college ball at D-III Brevard College where he was also a team captain. They have also returned Louis Achaintre, another European import from France who played for the team last year (55 tackles) and should bring good continuity to this team.

Defensive back

The Galaxy made a splash signing with Channing Stribling. Stribling played at Division I Michigan and had multiple stops in the NFL and in spring football in America. Adding to that, the Galaxy signed Shyheim Battle, a cornerback who played at Division I NC State. Add to those two Karim Ben El Ghali, a certified ELF veteran, and you may just have the best defensive backfield in the league.

Wrapping up

Offseason Grade: A-

The Galaxy may have one of the most well rounded teams in the entire ELF. Watch for them to play well and turn some heads this season
