ELF: Cologne Centurions sign veteran dual-threat QB Isaiah Weed

The Cologne Centurions of the European League of Football (ELF) have signed veteran quarterback Isaiah Weed for the 2024 season.

Weed will take over as QB1 for the new-look Centurions under new head coach Gregg Brandon.

The 25-year-old Weed,a  6’3″, 194-pounder, has spent time playing in Germany, Serbia, Austria, and Denmark during his time as a professional. Last season, Weed led the Rostock Griffins to a 6-3 record in the GFL2 throwing for 2,534 yards and 32 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback also added 469 yards and eight scores on the ground. 

The native of Bonny Lake outside of Seattle, Washington, spent the 2019 season with Denmark’s Aarhus Tigers.  He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NCAA Div. II) where in 15 games in 2017/2018 he threw for 2,592 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 492 yards and another 10 scores. In 2015-16 playing for Minot State University, he completed 169 of 292 passes for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns in 15 game

The Euro-veteran suited up for the Kragujevac Wild Boars in the Serbian league in 2021 season. Following the season in Serbia, Weed played for the Hildesheim Invaders (GFL3) helping them win the third division. In 2022, Weed played for the Swarco Raiders of the Austrian Football League. 

Weed looks to help the Centurions get back in the playoffs working with new head coach Gregg Brandon. The Centurions have been very active this off-season signing former NFL and Stanford receiver Connor Wedington and ELF veteran linebacker Lucky Obgevoen.
