Finland: Seinäjoki Crocodiles re-sign their leading rusher, Christian Powell

Finland’s Seinäjoki Crocodiles, Maple Bowl runner ups, have brought back their leading rusher Christian Powell for the 2023 season.

After an impressive string of seasons, including last year when Powell was one of the league’s only two rushers to average over 100 yards a game (113.9), it only made sense for them to bring him back for another round as a Crocodile.

In 2022, Powell complimented his 1,139 yards on the ground with 16 rushing touchdowns and 172 receiving yards.

Before finding his home in Seinäjoki for the past four years, Powell played his collegiate ball at Colorado University (NCAA Div. I, FBS). During his four-year campaign that lasted from 2012-2015, Powell rushed for 2,040 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Powell then signed with Seinäjoki in 2018 and the rest was history. He has been nothing but dominant for the Crocodiles as he was the league’s leading rusher three years in a row from 2019-2021, with his efforts leading them to a Maple Bowl appearance in the 2022 season.
