German Football League features a full weekend of livestreamed games

The German Football League heads into its third weekend of play with 12 of the league’s 15 teams in action.

The 2022 GFL runners up, the Potsdam Royals, will host the newcomers to the GFL North, the Paderborn Dolphins while the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes head to Braunschweig to play the New Yorker Lions. In the only cross divisional game, the GFL North Berlin Adler will host the Straubing Spiders from the GFL South. The Berlin Rebels will take their unbeaten 2-0 record to Dresden to face the also undefeated Monarchs (1-0). The Marburg Mercenaries will play host to the Munich Cowboys who will be playing their first game of the year while the Ravensburg Razorbacks travel to Kempten to take on an Allgäu Comets squad who earned a last minute victory two weeks ago to open their season.

So far, four games have been played between GFL North and GFL South teams with the North winning all four.

Saturday, June 3

Paderborn Dolphins (1-1) @ Potsdam Royals (1-0)

The Potsdam Royals opened their 2023 GFL season with a convincing 44-30 win over their 2022 German Bowl opponents, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns while Paderborn defeated the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 33-28 before losing 42-14 to a rejuvenated New Yorker Lions squad.

Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (2-0) @ Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (0-1)

The Braunschweig New Yorker Lions have opened the season with two straight wins after decisive victories of the Paderborn Dolphins (42-14) and Straubing Spiders (34-0). Kiel, on the other hand, fell to Paderborn 33-28.

Straubing Spiders (0-1) @ Berlin Adler (0-1)

The Adler lost their opening game of the season 21-13 to crosstown rivals, the Berlin Rebels. They will be looking to find their first win in the only cross divisional game of the weekend when they take on Straubing who were blanked 34-0 by the New Yorker Lions.

Sunday, June 4

Berlin Rebels (2-0) @ Dresden Monarchs (1-0)

The Berlin Rebels have started the 2023 season on a high note with two straight wins after beating the Berlin Adler 21-13 and then the Marburg Mercenaries of the GFL South, 46-12. Dresden also looked impressive in the first game of the season beating Marburg 59-6.

Munich Cowboys (0-0) @ Marburg Mercenaries (0-2)

The Marburg Mercenaries have had a rough ride so far losing their first two games of the season by lopsided scores. They were pummeled by the Dresden Monarchs 59-6 and the Berlin Rebels 46-12. They are hoping to right the ship against a Munich Cowboys team that has yet to play a game.

Allgäu Comets (1-0) @ Ravensburg Razorbacks (0-1)

The Allgäu Comets pulled off a last minute 52-48 win over the Saarland Hurricanes in their first game of the season while Ravensburg suffered a tough 52-12 loss to the Ingolstadt Dukes.
