LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Allgäu Comets @ Ravensburg Razorbacks, June 4, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)

Sunday, June 3rd, the Allgäu Comets (1-0) will be on the road to face the Ravensburg Razorbacks (0-1) in the second German Football League game of the season for both teams.

Allgäu will look to continue to have a strong start to the 2023 season as they are 1-0 following an electrifying 52-48 victory in week one against the Saarland Hurricanes. On the other hand, the Ravensburg Razorbacks are attempting to find their first win of the GFL season after a 52-12 loss to the Ingolstadt Dukes in their opening match of the season.

In Allgäu, head coach Elias Gniffke lost his starting quarterback in the offseason as Kenyatte Allen departed the GFL for the for the Leipzig Kings of the ELF. To replace him, the Comets brought in Javarian Smith from the Prague Black Panthers. After week one, it would seem that Smith is going to fill Allen’s shoes well.

In his first GFL game, Smith threw for 413 yards and eight total touchdowns en route to Comets‘ 52-48 victory. Smith also looked very settled in with his new receiving corps. Wide receivers Ahsan Moore, Nathanael Stewart and Marcel Schade combined for 20 receptions, 359 yards and all of Smith’s seven passing touchdowns.

Facing a Ravensburg team that gave up 52 points, 322 passing yards and six passing touchdowns in their first matchup, the Comets will no doubt continue to showcase their new quarterback and have a pass-dominant offensive strategy against the Razorbacks.

If you are a fan of the Razorbacks, there was not much to get excited about in their first GFL match of the season. Following the 40-point loss, Ravensburg still has a great chance to bounce back in their second matchup of the season.

While Allgäu did score 52 points in their season debut, they also gave up 48. Ravensburg quarterback Alexander Kronborg Bjerre did not have a great week one performance. However, he should be licking his chops at the opportunity for a great day against a Comets defense that surrendered 412 passing yards and seven touchdowns in their season debut.

Ravensburg’s keys to success this week will have to come on the offensive end. Depending on the efficiency of the Razorbacks and Kronborg Bjerre, we could see another high scoring affair or could see another one-sided loss for Ravensburg.
