New rushing leader in German Football League as most teams on 4 week break

With the German Football League regular season taking a four week break after 12 weeks of action, AFI takes a look at the passing, receiving, rushing and tackling leaders in Germany for the fourth time this season.

The Dresden Monarchs still have players leading two categories with WR Mitchel Paige remaining as the top receiver and LB AJ Wentland the leading tackler.

The Allgäu Comets still lead all teams with 5 players among the top 5 in 4 categories. Following them with 4 is the Potsdam Royals. The Dresden Monarchs have a total of 3 players while the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes ,Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, Cologne Crocodiles, Ingolstadt Dukes, Hamburg Huskies, Marburg Mercenaries, Stuttgart Scorpions and Berlin Rebels all have one.

The notable absences are the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions and the Frankfurt Universe. who do not have a player on any of these lists, but both teams have played fewer games, Frankfurt has played 7 games and Braunschweig 8. Also with no players on any list are the Munich Cowboys, Hildesheim Invaders and Kirchdorf Wildcats.

Passing

Allgäu Comets QB Justin Sottilare remains the passing leader with 3,412 yards and 34 TDs. Sottilare has set a record for passing attempts in a game (84), and still leads the GFL in average yards per game with 379.1. Trenton Norvell of the Dresden Monarchs holds on to 2nd after throwing for 396  yards in his last two games. He now has 2,861 yards and a league-best 35 TDs.  Austin Gahafer of the Potsdam Royals is 3rd with 2,160 yards and 29 TDs. The 2017 passing yards leader, Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns quarterback Marco Ehrenfried is 4th with 2,117 yards while Ingolstadt Dukes QB Nelson Hughes III holds on to 5th having thrown for 2,075 yards.

Receiving

Mitchell Paige of the Dresden Monarchs continues to lead all receivers in Germany and has caught 80 passes for 1,286 yards and a league-leading 18 TDs. Allgäu Comets WR Jordan Paul is now 2nd with 995 yards while Martin Emos of the Comets is 3rd with 790 yards  Potsdam Royals Danish WR Frederik Myrup Nielsen is 4th now after missing the last two games. He has 776 yards. Comets WR Jonatan Gihl has moved into 5th with 698 yards receiving.

Rushing

For the first time all season, there is a new rushing leader in the German Football League as Hamburg Huskies RB Colby Goodwyn has taken the lead after gaining 286 yards in the final two games before the break. He now has 858 yards. Former leader, Cologne Crocodiles RB Shayeen Edwards has slid down to 2nd with 808 yards while Tyvis Smith of the Potsdam Royals is the 3rd leading rusher so far with 779 yards. Berlin Rebel’s Dutch RB Sean Richard is 4th with 644 yards and 7 TDs Giacomo De Pauli  of the Stuttgart Scorpions has climbed up into 5th with 564 yards.

Tackling

AJ Wentland of the Dresden Monarchs continues to lead the league in tackles by a wide margin and  now has 136 tackles in 10 games. He has had 3 games of 20+ tackles. Demetrius Steed of the Potsdam Royals has jumped onto the list at the number 2 spot with 85 total tackles while Neil Howey of the Marburg Mercenaries is 3rd with 82 tackles. Allgäu Comets LB Niall Padden has moved up into 4th with 82 while Kiel Baltic Hurricanes LB Thiadric Hansen has slid down to 5th with 78 tackles
